. I am turning 25 in July and will have completed a B.S. in Accounting from Liberty University in the coming spring of 2012, with a current GPA of 3.5. I have roughly 100 credit hours complete. I am aspiring to become an officer and will do anything it takes. My desired branch is the navy.
I once almost joined the army as an enlisted man but decided enlisted was not for me after my experiences at MEPs. I am truly an officer at heart and want to lead. I am extremely technical and would have an interest in any technical or financial corp. I am extremely interested in intelligence and have done some great things with computers.
I have a few concerns which I am sure I can work through with persistence but need some help in determining the difficulty of dealing with the following:
I have many tattoos. I have a series of back tattoos, not elaborate art, just text. On my back, top middle, I have a single Japanese character. On my upper to middle right back, I have three lines of vertical latin text. Bottom left quadrant of my back, I have three lines of French text. On the front of my body, I have a left breast tattoo, which reads ‘medical revolution’ below a medical symbol which is in black and red. On the bottom right side of my stomach, I have three lines (literally just straight lines, no words). On my left forearm, I have a string of Japanese characters, and my wife’s name. On my right forearm I have some hexadecimal text and an English line of text.
Next concern: In summer of 2005, I was charged with Felony Attempted Breaking and entering and Felony Possession of Burglary tools. I was also charged with trespassing. The felonies were declared noelle prosequi and dropped upon the first court date. The only thing remaining to hang over my head was the trespassing charge, which was dropped one year later in court after a successful year of probation. I can produce court documentation or records which show no criminal convictions on my record, and additionally, the statement of noelle prosequi of the felonies and the dropping of the trespassing charge.
That would be all. I am in peak physical shape and condition, weighing in around 125 lbs.I am 5′6" and run under a 6 minute mile. I have taught martial arts and mma most of my life, and have my fourth degree black belt in Japanese Shotokan / Shoryn-ryu. Additionally, I have completed roughly 40 hours of community service in 2010 and I plan to serve some more when time permits.
Please let me know where you believe I stand, the most honest answer will help me the most. I do believe though, if I try hard and remain persistent, this goal is attainable.

HALF the recruiters i talk to say it’s impossible the other half say i should be good if i have all my paper work. But the goal is going to take me about a year and a half to prepare for, which i’m okay with…but I’d really like to know the truth. Did this recruiter just decide to stop when he read ‘charges’ or did he read that i am actually with a clean record??

I asked people not to post if you are going to have a bias opinion. I only asked for factual posts. Also, I have actually been told my tattoos are no problem by several recruiters at this point. The only concern is the felonies, of which I can never get a clear answer on.
@ Chris: I did not decide anything during the duck walk. I decided when I noticed how severely immature the enlisted men were compared to the officers. My guess is you are or have been enlisted. Additionally, I am not a military man, nor am I pretending to have knowledge of it, hence not knowing it’s MEPS instead of MEPs. Guess I just didn’t think that far. You should adjust your attitude before offending people…and additionally getting offended over people seeking to better themselves.
no hope in hell. the felony ALONE permanently disqualifies your chances of EVER getting a commission in the Navy. being dropped does NOT MEAN you were not guilty according to the Navy.
